A self-sufficient flying pitbox and transportation tool, combined into one AMF container?
This AMF container was developed in order to safely transport a Formula 1 car outside of the racing season for other purposes than sheer competition, such as testing or promotional activities.
One of the main objectives was the ability to (un)load the container safely without the assistance of any forklift truck.
As such, loading doors were installed at the normally highly uncommon short sides of the container. The container has a built-in platform and removable drive-on / drive-off ramps, which connect to the fixed internal platform.
The drive-on / drive-off ramps can be jacked up to form either a horizontal extension of the inner platform to roll the container either in or out, or gently jacked down to roll the car either on or off the ramps.
These ramps can be connected and when placed horizontally, they provide a maintenance area to e.g. replace a gearbox on site.
With a regular exterior, there is little to be noticed of the valuable internal content(s).
